SHACMAN's Global Success Stories Ⅴ
Today, let's follow the footsteps of shacmantruckschina Group (also known as SHACMAN), a renowned player in the commercial vehicle sector in China, and explore their overseas engineering service projects in Africa. Specifically, we will delve into the Mombasa-Nairobi Railway Project in Kenya and the Social Housing Project in Angola, both of which are considered to be major contributions to the economic development and social stability of their respective countries. With its exceptional product quality and comprehensive logistics solutions, SHACMAN played a critical role in ensuring the success of these projects in complex and challenging environments.
Opening up the Great Rift Valley in East Africa - Kenya Mombasa-Nairobi Railway Project
The Port of Mombasa in Kenya is an important deep-water port in East Africa. Its port range attracts several countries around Kenya to the hinterland of central Africa. Before 2017, there was only one two-lane highway from Mombasa Port in Kenya to central Africa. This route not only had to pass through complex landforms such as plains, plateaus, and mountains but also was heavily congested and prone to traffic accidents. It was known by the locals as “The Road of Death”. In September 2014, the Mombasa-Nairobi Railway project was officially launched. The Mombasa-Nairobi Railway starts from the port city of Mombasa in the east and reaches the capital Nairobi in the west. The construction started on December 12, 2014, and it was opened to traffic on May 31, 2017. It connected key cities such as Nakuru, Kisumu, and Kakamega in Kenya to the border of Uganda. With years of experience in large-scale overseas engineering services, SHACMAN has tailored a full range of logistics solutions for the Mombasa-Nairobi railway project and has supplied more than 400 vehicles of various types. During the service of Kenya‘s Mombasa-Nairobi railway project, SHACMAN heavy trucks coped with the country’s natural environment of high temperature, humidity, and complex landforms with its excellent product quality. SHACMAN has formulated a full range of service guarantee measures for the project and dispatched a special service team to the project. During the service period of the project, the members of the service team inspected, overhauled, and returned to customers for more than 2,000 times, organized more than 340 trainings for various drivers and maintenance workers, and the cumulative mileage of service vehicles exceeded 240,000 kilometers. In order to allow the Mombasa-Nairobi Railway to operate successfully as soon as possible, all parties involved in the project overcame many difficulties and completed the entire project in 29 months, which is half of the planned time. During this period, the service team of SHAMCAN in the Mombasa-Nairobi Railway Project was highly affirmed by the China Road and Bridge Mombasa-Nairobi Railway Project Team with the professional service level and hard-working spirit and won the silver award in the appraisal of 13 service providers.
The Pearl Project of the African Continent - Social Housing Project in Angola
The 2008 Angola Social Housing Project is a residential project implemented by the Angolan government to restore national reconstruction, ease housing tensions, improve Angolan people's living standards, maintain social stability, and promote economic development. The Angolan housing project was undertaken by CITIC Guohua and used a total of nearly 2,000 SHACMAN heavy trucks, establishing SHACMAN's leading position in Angola's engineering and construction vehicles. The project lasted for nearly 5 years. Under the careful maintenance and careful guidance of SHACMAN after-sales service engineers, after the project ended, the trucks used in the project continued to serve in other follow-up projects.
